Thank you, Pinterest!

Wow! I pretty much doubled my followers on here just by utilizing the awesomeness that is pinterest.com!

I know I haven't blogged since my 60-day juice fast, but things have been pretty hectic in the Jenkins household. My hubster was working out of town right up until a few weeks ago, so we've had some catching up to do (liiiiiiiiiike, showing off my new bod!). :-)

Aside from that, I'm pretty sure I am lactose intolerant and/or allergic to milk! Which explains SO much. In a previous post, I explained about some tummy troubles I'd been experiencing since last summer. I assumed the bloating tied in with the pain in my side, but after the pain in my side went away, I ended my juice fast and had my first small sprinkle of cheese on a healthy fish taco. I looked almost 6 months pregnant an hour later! This picture is not doctored, I went from fit to painfully bloated in ONE HOUR! Ouch!

Then, I had the flu on Christmas day. I made myself some soup, already assuming I was lactose intolerant. I took some Lactaid and ate some healthy tomato soup with milk. The ENTIRE next day my mouth and tongue were numb! It was scary! Allergic reaction?

So now I won't know for sure until my next doc appointment in February, but I have to pretty much avoid cheese, milk, and I'm assuming any other dairy...??

The only comfort is knowing that while I have to experiment with some new (restricted) recipes, I always have my juicing secret to fall back on! I can juice for a few days at a time, collect my thoughts, and try recipe after recipe until my taste buds adjust to my new cheeseless (SAD!) diet.

One perk? Pampering myself! I feel newly motivated to buy new jeans (my weakness!), FINALLY cut my hippie hair after an entire year, and get some new makeup!

Confidence is PRICELESS.

  1. I'm glad you made it so I can post on here--ask your doctor about gall bladder disease! My friend's stomach used to bloat up like that and she just got her gall bladder taken out and she's all better now! I hope it gets better soon :-)

  2. I know this is an old post, but I just found your blog and am going back through all your stuff. :) I am SO glad I'm not the only one who bloats up like crazy after eating dairy! I seriously look 6 months pregnant afterward and I've never met another soul who understands the seriousness of the issue.

I started the Reboot last week (cheated yesterday for Easter, but back on it today). I have a love/hate relationship with this thing, not gonna lie. My friend found your blog (she's also doing the cleanse) and shared it with me and it's just been such a great inspiration to me to see someone succeed! Thanks so much!

  4. I read all of your juice fast blog posts, and you have inspired me. I had my son 4 months ago and have been struggling with how slow my body is going back to normal. Before I got pregnant and even during my pregnancy (up until 7 months) I was a very active person. I ate pretty good too. Now I get discouraged when I look in the mirror or when I go shopping. I'm overweight, I have a flabby stomach, and overall, I have basically been struggling with my body since I was a kid.

I tried a detox a couple weeks ago and loved the results! I lost weight, I felt clean, healthy, and I had energy. Then I went camping and kind of ate crap food. And didn't exercise hardly at all.

Plus, my hips have been really stiff since I was pregnant. When I was given the okay to exercise, I started a walking group with a bunch of other moms. A couple weeks of walking almost 4 miles a day, I had to stop because I injured my hip. Which was a little discouraging because I used to be a dancer/dance teacher, and I wanted to major in dance before I had a baby. Basically, I the reason I'm worried and stressed about my body is because I'm afraid I'll never get my dance body back.

Anyway, this is all random, but I wanted to say thank you for encouraging me. I can't afford a juicer right now, but when I can, I'm going to do a 60 day juice fast too. Thanks! When I can I'm going to start up my own blog to track my progress. Thank you!

  5. I'm so glad you feel inspired! Juicing is definitely a great stepping stone to start your (long, painful, tiresome... ha ha) journey to better health and fitness! I danced throughout high school and college as well, and I STILL get discouraged about how having a baby has changed my body and metabolism.

Keep checking Craigslist for juicers and definitely let me know if you start a blog!

  6. Oh and I am lactose intolerant too! So I know how you feel, although I never had swelling like that.

  7. Hello! Im lactose intolerant as well to cows milk. However, I can have goat milk products (which surprisingly there are a quiet a bit of products). There are some delicious goat cheeses and the goats milk is really good for making casseroles or cooking in general verses using silk milk. A plus is you should be able to find them in a grocery store. I live in a small town and our Walmart has it. Hope this helps and its worth a try. It works for me!
